DESCRIPTION:Karmaoke is back for an encore performance!\nKarmaoke debuted last year and thanks to the warmth and generosity of our sangha\, it was a joyful celebration and true success. This year\, we’re bringing it back with even more gratitude in our hearts\, blending music\, laughter\, and the spirit of giving. \nFollowing our Sunday shamatha meditation from 9:00 – 11:00 AM\, we’ll kick off with a Thanksgiving Potluck at 11:30 to share our favorite vegetarian dishes and our appreciation for one another. This meal will be an opportunity to honor the blessings of community\, the dharma that connects us\, and the countless ways we support each other on this path. \nAfterward\, the music begins! Karmaoke is not just karaoke—it’s dharma-infused FUNdraising. From 1:00 – 3:00 PM\, we’ll sing the songs that move our hearts\, reflect on our struggles and joys\, support our journey\, and echo the timeless spirit of gratitude and compassion. Whether you step up for a solo\, join a duet\, or sing in harmony with the whole community\, your voice will be part of a chorus of generosity\, strengthening our community and supporting KCC. \nWe are aiming to raise $40\,000\, with an anonymous sangha member already generously contributing $10\,000 toward that goal. DESCRIPTION:There are two wings to our practice – wisdom and compassion. If we only exercise one wing\, we cannot fly. \nIn this second get-together we hope to brainstorm ways of working our wing of compassion in our homes\, our neighborhoods\, our world. \nOf course\, to do this skillfully we must keep the wing of wisdom and equanimity-towards-all working simultaneously. How can KCC members support each other in this difficult work? Join us to share your ideas. \n“Hope Is a Strategy\, And Community Is the Front Line” \nAmid the danger\, the civil rights leader Eric Ward calls on everyday Americans to show moral courage—not forged in battle\, but in unity. “Courage starts with a breath\,” he says. “We need to stop panicking\, support our local governments\, and rejoin civic life even if it’s just quilting clubs or faith groups.
