SUMMARY:Shamatha Meditation - Half Day + Potluck
DESCRIPTION:The Zoom button will appear below 15 minutes prior to the session (i.e.\, 8:45am on alternating first Sundays\, see below). If the button is not appearing\, first try refreshing your webpage. If it is still not appearing\, please email zoom@kcc.org for assistance. \nAt KCC\, the foundation of spiritual training is Shamatha\, a basic sitting meditation that develops stable attention and provides the basis for investigating more subtle aspects of awareness. The practice is the essential underpinning of all other meditation practices. While our minds are busy and distracted by a myriad of disconnected thoughts\, feelings\, and emotions\, it is not possible to deeply engage the meditation methods that could lead us to the intended result of directly recognizing the nature of mind. Shamatha is a direct method for learning to let the mind rest naturally\, free of our commitment to the tyranny of these distractions. \nLama Eric Triebelhorn provides detailed instructions about the practice of Shamatha on alternating first Sundays from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM\, followed by a potluck lunch. These Half-Day Sits happen in odd-numbered months: January\, March\, May\, July\, September\, and November. \nAll are welcome to attend.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://staging2.kcc.org/event/shamatha-meditation-half-day-potluck-2/2027-05-02/

\nAll are welcome to attend.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://staging2.kcc.org/event/shamatha-meditation-half-day-potluck-2/2028-01-02/
