SUMMARY:Shamatha Meditation - Half Day + Potluck
DESCRIPTION:The Zoom button will appear below 15 minutes prior to the session (i.e.\, 8:45am on alternating first Sundays\, see below). If the button is not appearing\, first try refreshing your webpage. If it is still not appearing\, please email zoom@kcc.org for assistance. \nAt KCC\, the foundation of spiritual training is Shamatha\, a basic sitting meditation that develops stable attention and provides the basis for investigating more subtle aspects of awareness. The practice is the essential underpinning of all other meditation practices. While our minds are busy and distracted by a myriad of disconnected thoughts\, feelings\, and emotions\, it is not possible to deeply engage the meditation methods that could lead us to the intended result of directly recognizing the nature of mind. Shamatha is a direct method for learning to let the mind rest naturally\, free of our commitment to the tyranny of these distractions. \nLama Eric Triebelhorn provides detailed instructions about the practice of Shamatha on alternating first Sundays from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM\, followed by a potluck lunch. These Half-Day Sits happen in odd-numbered months: January\, March\, May\, July\, September\, and November. \nAll are welcome to attend.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://staging2.kcc.org/event/shamatha-meditation-half-day-potluck-2/2030-11-03/

SUMMARY:Death and Dying Study Group
DESCRIPTION:The Death and Dying Study Group chooses material to work with before gathering to discuss. On 1st Tuesdays we continue working through a book. On 3rd Tuesdays our focus is on films\, articles and poems available online or are easily sent out to the study group as a PDF. We have a common interest to learn more about death and dying by reading or viewing\, discussing\, and hearing each other. \n1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month – 1:30pm to 2:30pm — on Zoom only.  \nParticipation in the study group is open to all\, but the Zoom meetings are done by password-protected invitation email. Anyone who is interested should contact Catherine Harris at catahar@peak.org or Jan Glenn at janbglenn@yahoo.com. \nFor our web archive of items of interest — for example\, Lama Eric’s booklet for July 2020 class ’Skillfully Traversing the Bardos’\, calligraphy by Jan Glenn\, list of books\, compilations of poems\, jokes and cartoons\, as well as our meeting structure and links to legal documents — click HERE.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://staging2.kcc.org/event/death-and-dying-study-group-2-2-2-2/2030-11-05/

\nAll are welcome to attend.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://staging2.kcc.org/event/shamatha-meditation-half-day-potluck-2/2031-03-02/

On 3rd Tuesdays our focus is on films\, articles and poems available online or are easily sent out to the study group as a PDF. We have a common interest to learn more about death and dying by reading or viewing\, discussing\, and hearing each other. \n1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month – 1:30pm to 2:30pm. \nParticipation in the study group is open to all\, but the Zoom meetings are done by password-protected invitation email. Anyone who is interested should contact Catherine Harris at catahar@peak.org or Jan Glenn at janbglenn@yahoo.com. \nFor our web archive of items of interest\, e.g. Lama Eric’s booklet for July 2020 class ’Skillfully Traversing the Bardos’\, calligraphy by Jan Glenn\, list of books\, compilations of poems\, jokes and cartoons\, as well as our meeting structure and links to legal documents\, etc.\, click HERE.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://staging2.kcc.org/event/death-and-dying-study-group-3-2-2-2/2031-07-15/
