SUMMARY:Children's Program
DESCRIPTION:The KCC Children’s Program is an opportunity to introduce children to Buddhist values within a supportive\, sincere dharma community using simple dharma activities\, storytelling\, open discussion\, songs\, art projects and activities\, including play\, to promote kindness and compassion. Our goal is to provide a fun\, meaningful experience for all. \nSunday Morning Children’s Program \nOn the second and fourth Sundays of each month\, from 9:00 to 11:00 am\, we offer the Sunday Morning Children’s Program. This program normally starts in September and runs through the second Sunday in June. In July and August we meet once a month on the fourth Sunday. We require that at least one parent or guardian be present at KCC when their child attends. \nThe age range we currently serve is 5 to 12; however\, we do allow slightly younger and older children on a case by case basis as appropriate. Please feel free to discuss this with the program coordinator if needed. \nWhile there is no fee for the program\, dana (offerings) are accepted and go towards helping us continue providing programs such as these. In order to support the program on Sundays we ask that parents agree to be available to assist the teacher if needed – this is a shared role and can be filled by parents or other adults who wish to participate in this way. During the regular school year please note that we request you consider committing to bringing your child both Sundays each month throughout this time frame\, but this is not required. \nAlso please be aware that\, to attend this program\, your child needs to be able to manage their speech and physical activity cooperatively in a small group to help maintain a peaceful children’s sangha. If this is a concern we ask that you attend with your child until they are comfortable with the group. Ultimately we want to be as inclusive as possible\, but must also work to create a safe and welcoming environment for all attending. \nChildcare for Children Under Five \nWe also offer childcare for children 3 to 4 years old on the Sunday mornings when the program is offered.\n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://staging2.kcc.org/event/childrens-program-2/2026-02-08/

SUMMARY:Personal Practice Retreat
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to be able to once again host our annual one-month opportunity for personal retreat at Ser Chö Ösel Ling\, our retreat land in Goldendale\, WA. Some may sign up for the entire month and others will come for stays ranging from a weekend to three weeks. Each week of retreat will begin on a Friday from February 20 until March 20\, 2026. Time periods available are for 1-week\, 2-weeks\, 3-weeks\, 4-weeks and weekends\, all beginning on a Friday. \nDuring the personal retreat time\, all retreatants keep the same schedule and practice on their own in their rooms or in one of the meditation halls. Everyone gathers for meals and in the evening after dinner for a short meditation and the recitation of aspiration prayers or inspirational songs. All of the meals will be provided. \nThe month of personal retreat is an excellent way to deepen one’s practice in the support of other community members. Being able to devote more time to meditation away from our habitually busy environs can be very inspiring and nurturing. Each day will have periods of silence\, and silence will also be observed each week for a number of days. \nBefore engaging in personal retreat\, it is recommended that participants have previous experience that includes at least some facilitated group retreat and perhaps some individual retreat. The most skillful approach to personal retreat is to begin with a weekend and gradually increase the length of one’s stay. Beginning with a retreat that is beyond one’s current capacity can undermine the potential benefit of one’s stay and unnecessarily dampen enthusiasm for future retreat. \nRegardless of experience\, each participant will create an individualized practice plan – either by themselves or in consultation with an advisor. If you are new to personal retreat with KCC\, we request that you speak with an advisor about creating an outline for your retreat in order to facilitate a meaningful experience. To design a retreat plan\, you can reach out to Lama Eric by making an appointment here\, or to Lama Kathleen by email at kdabenz@gmail.com. \nSample Schedule \nAM\n6:00-7:20      Practice Session\n7:30-9:00      Breakfast\n9:00-10:30    Practice Session\n10:30-11:00   Tea Break\n11:00-12:00   Practice Session \nPM\n12:10-2:00     Lunch\n2:00-3:30      Practice Session\n3:30-4:00      Tea Break\n4:00-5:15       Practice Session\n5:30-6:45      Dinner\n6:45-7:30      Group Practice \nArrival Time on Fridays: Between 2 PM and 4 PM\nDeparture Time on Last Day of your Retreat Period: After breakfast and before 10:00 AM \nMeals and Chores\nThree vegetarian meals will be served daily. Retreatants are expected to contribute up to one hour per day toward chores that will be done during the three meal breaks. \nRegistration\nThe number of participants for this retreat will be limited to 16 participants in single occupancy cabins only\, allowing for a spacious environment to support this longer retreat. Registration will be open for retreats of a week or longer until February 15th; registration for weekends will stay open throughout. \nPricing \n4 weeks: $1900\n3 weeks: $1560\n2 weeks: $1190\n1 week: $600\nWeekend: $270 \nIncludes single cabin and 3 meals per day. \n  \nREGISTER FOR 4-WEEKSREGISTER FOR 3-WEEKSREGISTER FOR 2-WEEKS \nREGISTER FOR 1 WEEKREGISTER FOR A WEEKEND \n  \nNote: To support the staff and the retreat container for all retreatants\, each retreat period begins on a Friday. If there are extenuating circumstances and the only way you could attend would be to come on different dates\, you may contact scol.retreats@kcc.org with details about your circumstances. Requests will be reviewed in consultation with Lama Eric and approved on a case-by-case basis. \nFinancial Assistance: Financial Assistance (up to 50% of the retreat cost) may be available for individuals with financial constraints. The amount of FA available depends entirely on donations to the Financial Assistance Fund. For those who can afford it\, please consider contributing to the Financial Assistance Fund so that others who are less financially fortunate are able to attend KCC retreats. \nTo apply for Financial Assistance\, contact the Financial Assistance Team at KCC-FA@kcc.org with details of your request. After you have received confirmation\, then register for the retreat. For further details\, read the KCC Financial Assistance Policy here. \n \n\nVIEW EVENT DETAILS: https://staging2.kcc.org/event/personal-practice-retreat/
