Sattva Social Club invites you to Dance Tara
September 24, 2022, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Dear Friends of Sacred Dance,
We’ll meet again at KCC (4936 NE Skidmore St, Portland, Oregon 97218), now on fourth Saturdays of every month at 6:30 pm to about 8pm. We come together to share our hearts’ joy with simple movements based on Tara’s practices. All traditional cultures celebrate life with music, song, art & dance! No experience is necessary, all genders welcome, all ages welcomed, and no commitments to undertake other than to your own Presence! Enjoy the contemplation (below) which can be used on or off the cushion.
Tsugtor Nampar Gyalma gives protection from disturbing emotions and extends life span. When life feels overwhelming or we get those feelings of not doing enough, or being who we ‘think’ we ought to be; it’s skillful means to turn our attention to all the ways we have been all victorious. Starting with bodhicitta motivation, visualize Tara as a very rich gold, seated upon a lotus and moon disc holding a lotus flower and within it is a vase of immortality, filled to overflowing with long-life nectar. Continually reciting Tara’s mantra (Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha) with devotion, see the light and nectar overflow from the vase and pour into ourselves and all living beings. Tara’s light and nectar revitalize our energy and life force and decrease the disorders of the elements and systems of our body, reestablishing perfect equanimity. Tara is all victorious over mental obscurations and the endless problems of our life. Acknowledging our victories over the patterns that obscure our inherent joy is so fulfilling. Then dissolve the visualization, meditate on the true nature of the mind, and dedicate the merit with the wish to free all beings.
Feel free to share this invitation with whomever would be interested. Dana (donations) gratefully received. Any questions, please contact me.
