Bodhisattva Celebration 2021

December 18, 2021, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Virtual Event Virtual Event

Please join us as the children and adults of KCC share stories of historical or contemporary Buddhists or non-Buddhists who embody the bodhisattva ideal in the world. This year we will join together via Zoom on Saturday, December 18, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

This event aims to enrich the relationships between younger and older community members at KCC. For those of you who are new to this event, the evening is all about bodhisattvas, in our own tradition as well as others, and is often done in imaginative and creative ways. A bodhisattva is someone who is determined to attain awakening in order to then lead all other beings, without exception, to awakening as well. All of a bodhisattva’s thoughts, words, and actions are dedicated to the benefit of others and are motivated by compassion (the wish to alleviate the suffering of others) and loving-kindness (the wish that all beings experience happiness). By our own small acts of kindness – toward every single being – we practice the bodhisattva path. So we invite you to join with the sangha, as well as family and friends, as we share stories, music, or any other presentation that illustrates this path.

We encourage people of all ages to participate, including having your children tell a story on their own or help tell a story with someone. These can be prepared ahead of time or can be spontaneous.

Please contact Mary Woods at woodsmb2@gmail.com for more information or if you plan to share a story, especially if you have a video or something that may require technical support.
