Introduction to Meditation: Beginning the Journey
July 22, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Teacher: Lama Eric Triebelhorn
Due to the plethora and variety of advice about meditation or mindfulness these days, it can be difficult to know how to approach sitting practice in the context of Buddhism. We have many questions, such as what do these many approaches have in common and what makes a particular practice part of the Buddhist path? Understanding the greater context of meditation practice helps us to develop confidence and a sense of direction.
In this class, Lama Eric will offer a general overview of the purpose of meditation from the Buddhist perspective, the benefits of the practice, advice on comfort and posture, and several short guided meditation sessions. We will pause frequently to make time for discussion and clarification.
Please join us in person or on Zoom as we explore how to skillfully begin the journey to deeper clarity and open-heartedness.
A followup workshop will be offered August 19 to support the integration of meditation practice into a daily routine: Establishing a Daily Practice with Lama Eric
