The Dharma of James Baldwin—Watch it Now
“I love humanity and all people and I want all people to be free…”
The renowned African American writer James Baldwin had much to say about the human condition. But what does it mean to be human? What does it mean to be free?
His radical dharma inspires deep and nuanced explorations of these questions within contexts such as self-empowerment, autonomy, and love, all of which are crucial to reaching our highest potential as human beings.
Artist and dialogue facilitator Sharyll Burroughs hosted an intimate in-person experience of inquiry and human connection on July 5th and 12th 2025 at KCC’s urban center.
With the permission of Sharyll Burroughs and the encouragement of Lama Eric, we have decided to make the videos for Sharyll’s presentation, The Dharma of James Baldwin, available at no cost. Be forewarned–there are instances of a racial slur, as well as graphic language.
Baldwin’s prescient wisdom served as a path to human evolution—both individually and collectively—and offered a much-needed remedy to our fraught, divisive society.
